2. A Farewell to Hooves

ACCIDENTAL VIDEO

[ CRASH. The video snaps on just in time to catch a fist raising away from the screen. Twilight's taken to setting an alarm in the morning so that she can get to the library before anypony else does; she likes the quiet of the early morning hours there. But this morning, she's in no mood to get up. She feels exceedingly woozy for some reason. So the snooze button sounds like a good idea.

Unfortunately, her alarm is on the same table as her journal. Hence the video.

The video shows Twilight's bed, and the (human??) fist extending from it. Twilight is a lump underneath it. After several minutes of incessant beeping from the alarm, she shakes the blanket off and her head emerges.

Her... human head.

At first she tries to go back to sleep. Then she opens her eyes slowly when she realizes something's off. Looks at her still-extended fist. Uncurls her fingers.

Fingers. ]

... what is GOING ON?!?

[ She flexes them a few times, and feels her head. It's so much smaller than she's used to! And yet she barely fits on her own bed now. The covers are falling off her to reveal a blue hospital dress, which she definitely wasn't wearing last time she went to sleep. Which was... how long ago?

At some point she notices the video is on, and pokes at it with a fist a couple times to get it to turn off. Still not used to fingers, yet. ]


ACTION

[ Twilight will spend some time still in the pony house and surrounding area, getting used to walking on two legs, examining her new fingers and toes, and recording everything she does. This is a moment of SCIENCE, after all. Disorienting and troubling as it is, she must record all of it.

Eventually she will move to the village, making a beeline for the clothing store to find something more suitable than a hospital gown, and the library to do as much research about humans and the anti-ponification thereof. Find her there, or wandering the streets, marveling at how tall she is now. ]

[Ami politely hides a laugh, close to a giggle, behind a hand.]

I have to agree. I even like the smell of books. Besides, reading each one is a little like going somewhere and seeing everything in it for yourself.

[Some people here have seemed to know things about the senshi, and for a second Ami thinks Twilight means that. She has a rough few seconds trying to rack her brain for a way to explain or brush it off.

Then she realizes the pony had only meant the library books, which seem to talk about many of their worlds. Nothing unusual, nothing about the secret history of the senshi. So she agrees.]

Some of them even become friends after awhile.

Like us! [ Twilight has no idea of Ami's backstory, honestly. That may not last forever, though. ]

Like us? [The idea seems to surprise her, a little; as if she'll never quite be able to just take it for granted and offer and accept something like friendship so easily.

She likes it, though. She smiles.] Like us.

[ Twilight decides to surprise Ami with a hug. The time feels right. ]

[Ami stiffens for a second, but just a little belatedly, she returns the gesture.]

You're a good friend, Ami. I'm really glad I met you here!

[This gets a smile that seems much more natural than her attempt at returning the hug. It's not that she doesn't appreciate and like Twilight, after all; it's just that she's not very demonstrative always.]

I'm glad, too. We have a lot in common, so I think that helps us be able to get along well.

[ Chuckle. ] I'm glad there's somepony else who enjoys spending so much time in the library!

It has a good atmosphere and environment. It's a little more lively here than the one at home, but I sort of like it anyway.

It's nice to have so many visitors! My library's sort of quiet, too, but there are a lot of readers in Luceti.

It makes it seem a little less strange to like it so much, I think.

[Back home, she was the bookworm with her nose stuck in a book. Here, that was the norm for quite a few people, and she never felt out of place because of it. It was nice!]
