3. A Tale of Two Historians

[ Twilight Sparkle and Nico Robin are sitting in the library, next to an enormous book. Residents of Luceti may have noticed Robin doesn't leave the house without Twilight these days. That's right, she has her own seeing-eye pony. Twilight waves to the camera. ]

Hi, everypony! So, Robin and I had an idea recently…

[ Robin seems faintly amused at the enthusiastic pony, keeping a hand on her neck. Though whether for support or comfort it's hard to say. ]

Though the stories of the past are chronicled here, there is very little in the way of important stories of memories made in Luceti. To that end, we've decided to collect and archive them so that they will be available to those unfortunates in the future who may need inspiration of their own.

[ Twilight nods. ] It'll be sort of like Luceti's own history book! We've started writing down our own stories and those of people we know, but there's a lot of history missing, so we're going to need all the help we can get. We'll be around the village for the next few days gathering your stories. You can tell us anything that's happened to you -- however interesting or mundane, we'll find a place for it!

We also accept the macabre. Since every history has a dose of unrelenting horror. [ She smiles. ]

That's right. And you can come down to the library, too - we'll be here frequently, and we'll set up a submission box if you'd rather give us your stories anonymously. We'll see you around!

[ Twilight and Robin may be found around the village this week, knocking on doors of various households and finding people on the street. You may also find them at the library, or donate anonymous stories to the submission box. ]

Ah... is there? [she's not entirely comfortable with this and trails an uncertain hand on the bookshelf] You ask, please, Twilight-chan.

[Jack draws back from the unicorn slightly because...unicorn. They're pointy. He responds in a friendly-enough manner, though.]

Stories of Luceti history? And you want myself to contribute?

[It's a weighty matter indeed.]

Perhaps you'd like a tale..........

[she recognizes that voice and cants her head to the side]

Batman? I didn't know you were fond of bats.
all7seas: (and I can go like this)

"Oh, aye! He's creepy alright! And a right pointy-eared berk.

Not sure you should use the word 'berk' in your book. Berkbooks ain't proper reading for the female creature."

[personal profile] toujoursfluer 2013-06-29 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
What is a berk? [female creature? Robin isn't even sure what that is supposed to mean but she can't say she appreciates it, though she keeps her voice pleasant] I think we can decide what is appropriate or not. But thank you for your consideration.

[To Robin:] You don't want to know -- and pray you never encounter one!

[To Twilight:] Settle in, my fair lady, and I'll tell you just how the Batman has executed his masked reign of terror her in Luceti!

One night, darlings -- one cold, chill autumn evening! -- two friends went out for a sail.

[On a stolen boat, but whatever.]

Oh, they were enjoying their sail, these friends! Best mates, them!

[McCoy had been practically throwing up from fear and seasickness and grumping at Jack the entire time to return to shore.]

Little did they know, they were being watched.

[she will have to look it up then. Honestly. As Jack relates his story, she can't help but be reminded of a set up for one of Usopp's more elaborate stories. However, there seemed to be a grain of truth--even a small one.]

Was it the murderous man-bat come to suck out your souls?
all7seas: (Res ipsa loquitur)

[personal profile] all7seas 2013-07-04 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
No, no no no no -- not the sea. There WAS no sea back then! [WRAP YOUR MINDS AROUND THAT, LADIES.] T'were on the Westernmost Lake, lovelies. And the two mates didn't know that he were approaching.

You see, the BATMAN can -- through some infernal pact with Satan's ugliest imps, no doubt -- fly.

Ish. Sort of.

[Because Terry had crashed hard.]

[personal profile] toujoursfluer 2013-07-04 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[yes she'd heard of that. There was some sort of desert until the sea invaded. Though she cocks her head, trying to understand the jist of the story through the words]

What did he want of them?
all7seas: (whose boons?)

[personal profile] all7seas 2013-07-07 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
There was some war-thing. We were all undersea. Things exploded. [He waves a hand around vaguely. What, you wanted accurate details?]

I find it interesting that you no longer seem interested in what the Batman wrought next!
toujoursfluer: (think you can take me)

[personal profile] toujoursfluer 2013-07-11 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
That can be researched separately, Twilight-chan. [stay on topic, please.] Go on about what this man-bat wrought.

[there has to be something dark and thrilling in this story and she wants to know what]

The Batman, as you may well expect, was on a clean steady streak toward mucking up everything. The two friends continued their sail on the pristine lake. The wind tousled the captain's magnificent hair. The mate didn't cling too tightly to the mast. The night sky were brilliant with starlight.

Little did they know that something buggering their way came.

[personal profile] toujoursfluer 2013-07-25 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
How unfortunate for them.

[this is getting to be tedious and she wishes he would get to the point--though it doesn't reflect in her voice]
all7seas: (dogwatch)

[personal profile] all7seas 2013-07-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
And then, what do you think? The Batman POUNCED. 'Cept he pounced too HARD and sent the boat a-careening across the dark waters!

The mate, he screamed and found himself unbalanced by the Batman's grappling! Into the cold maelstrom he fell!

And here's the buggering bugger about it, ladies -- he couldn't swim.
